AFTERSCHOOL SOCCER CLINICS TO BE LED BY FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION ACADEMY MANAGER LICENSE HOLDER

Arsenal Soccer Schools Hawaii’s Director of Coaching holds only license in U.S.

Honolulu and Kapolei, HI – Arsenal Soccer Schools Hawaii will start offering afterschool Soccer Clinics for boys and girls aged 5 – 10 from February at two locations, Petrie Park in Kaimuki on Mondays – Tuesdays and Kapolei Regional Park on Wednesdays – Thursdays. Led by Peter Kirov, Arsenal Soccer School Hawaii’s Director of Coaching, European-style skills training will combine with nutrition tips and injury prevention skills.

A former professional player and manager who has competed in Europe’s UEFA Cup, Kirov received the prestigious Football Association Academy Manager license in England this past November, making him the only such license holder in the United States. Holders of this license are eligible to coach English Premier League youth teams. In addition, Kirov is one of only a handful of coaches nationwide to hold an UEFA ‘A’ Coaching License, a prerequisite for applying for the FA Academy Manager license.

The clinics will focus on ball control skills and injury prevention, to instill those techniques at an early age as kids go on to play more for their clubs or other organizations. Kirov has seen players endure career-ending and other injuries due to poor warm up or cool down.
“So much promise, talent can be taken away in an instant,” says Kirov,
“just by not knowing the correct way to warm up for a game or cool down after it, as well as the right way to control, pass or shoot the ball.”

Nicole Lee, whose six-year-old son plays in HYSA and also trains with Coach Peter, agrees. “My son knows how his footwork should be to avoid injury, and as a parent, I really appreciate that.” She also adds that her son enjoys the footwork and extra skills Coach Peter has taught
him.
“The kids enjoy doing their step-overs, back heels and other ball control skills, and have fun trying to outdo each other to see who can do them fastest while in motion.”
